Talking about the eastern region of Thailand, the first things that seem to come to mind are the beautiful beaches. But besides all the sea and sands, eastern Thailand also boasts a number of succulent tropical fruits.
There are many farms in Rayong, an eastern province that is home to one of the largest fruit farming areas in Thailand. The first farm not to be missed when visiting Rayong is the Uncle Thong Bai Farm. The farm offers a tram service that takes visitors to sightsee around the place and taste a number of tropical fruits such as durian, longan, langsat, zalacca, and other seasonal fruits. Visitors can also get the chance to try various Thai dishes such as Mu Chamuang and rice noodles with spicy curry. There are also other similar farms around the place where you can shop for similar products.
The other recommended destination in Rayong is the Rayong Aquarium. Inside the aquarium features a tunnel penetrating through a huge water world where a variety of sea animals are swimming showing off their bright colors. By the aquarium is a beautiful beach where you can drop by and snap some photos. After going around, fill you starving stomach by going to Ban Phe Market to relish the fresh seafood and shop for preserved seafood such as shrimp paste, fish sauce, dried shrimp, and more.
On Saturday night, go strolling along the walking street of Yom Chinda in downtown Rayong to appreciate the old architecture of the city. The street shops open in the evening selling coffee, roti, and Thai snacks. There is an old cinema revived from aged houses showing vintage films. Moreover, young people get on stage here to play Thai music for the tourists free of charge. Try the colors of the east in Rayong province for your own pleasure!
